Manicure

If your going on holiday, attending an interview, or been invited to a wedding, you may choose to have your nails done up for the occasion. Some special nail polish may be in order, or maybe some acrylics. The truth is, whatever the occasion, having your nails done, can feel as special as having a brand-new outfit to wear, and you don’t really need a special occasion to do that.
A manicure is a cosmetic treatment of the hands and the word manicure originates from the Latin word for care being ‘cura’, for the word for hands being ‘manus’. With your hands being the busiest, and quite possibly the most worked member of your body, it is quite fitting that a manicure, or ‘care of the hands’, is done as a regular treatment, rather than one saved for only a special occasions.
If you are a career, nurse, a hairdresser or cleaner, you may find you have your hands constantly in and out of water, sapping it of its natural oils and moisture. Washing your hands regularly to avoid spreading germs is been advocated more than ever, and the constant use of alcohol-based hand sanitisers can do damage to the skin and nails over time. Using moisturisers regularly to restore moisture to your hands is very important, but often forgotten or overlooked.
A manicure, which involves care and tidying of the nails, and a massage and replenishing treatment to the hands, is therefore a good solution. In order to see continuous benefits from your manicure, it is best to have a manicure treatment fortnightly.
In order to avoid damaged skin around you nail, that can peel and become cracked, causing you pain and making your nails look unsightly, the skin around your nails need special attention. Your nails also can split and break, especially around the outside of the nail bed where the cuticle meets the nail itself. These problems can be down to a number of things. However, one of the common causes is general wear and tear, and stress. Our bodies can get run down if we don’t take the time to care for ourselves, and encourage relaxation. A manicure, not only cares for the hands, it cares for your stress. As your hands are used so much, a manicure can be one of the most relaxing treatments of all and can help you to unwind, giving you the much-needed time to filter out some of the stress, and take care of you.
At Nails Couture and Design, we have a range of manicure treatments to choose from, from a basic manicure, to the application of professional shellac nails and enhancements. Our basic manicure treatment can exclude the nail varnish if you wish or need (this is often required if you work in care, nursing or food prep), but is still recommended in order to keep your nails, nail bed, and hands in good condition.
